The extra-wide Bold collars, made of black leather, are 3 or 4 cm wide and can be finished with black, antique brass, or stainless steel clasps. The buckle and D-ring have been extensively tested for strength and treated to prevent rust and corrosion . The collar is also available in various sizes, ensuring a perfect fit for every dog.

Why vegetable tanned leather?

We use vegetable tanned leather for Cooper & Quint collars and leashes.

The most important reasons in a row:

• Longer lifespan

Vegetable-tanned leather uses tanning acids from various plants, such as branches, leaves, bark, or fruits. The tanning process takes approximately one to three months. Because of the gentler process, the lifespan of vegetable-tanned leather is generally longer than that of chrome-tanned leather.

• Better for the environment and biodegradable

Chrome tanning is also called chemical cowhide (80-90% of cowhide is chrome-tanned). The hides are preserved by the use of synthetic preservatives such as chromium sulfate, aluminum, and sodium hydroxide. These substances are toxic and carcinogenic, rendering the leather non-biodegradable and practically dead. Vegetable-tanned leather, recognizable by its trademark, contains no toxic substances such as azo dyes, nickel, PCP, or chromium VI. The leather can be easily disposed of at the end of its life.

• More intense colors

Another major difference between vegetable-tanned leather and chrome-tanned leather is the life you can still find in the final product. Vegetable-tanned leather absorbs the marks of our lives. Natural aging doesn't compromise its durability. The tannins give the leather an unmistakably warm and vibrant hue that intensifies with time and daily use.
