Meet Richie the Shar-pei
Hi!
I am Richie, a super sweet Shar-Pei. I really love other animals. My looks sometimes scare them a bit, but when they get to know me, they immediately discover my sweet character. Just ask the bunnies I live with. I can lie down with them very sweetly, just for the coziness. Luckily I have two owners who take good care of me and always find a super nice area for me to go for a walk!

Choosing a Shar-Pei
Wendy & Kees grew up with dogs. But a dog really only fitted in if it could be combined with work and also in the home. That is why Wendy initially took rabbits into the house who are great friends with Richie. Everything to ensure that there are animals in the neighborhood.
In their search for a dog, Wendy & Kees looked carefully at the character that would suit them well. A Shar-Pei is a dog with instructions. He is immediately part of the family but trusts few others outside of that because of his watchful character. Intelligent, clean and sweet. He looks beautiful because of his proud attitude and walk. He is tough, funny and cute at the same time and decides for himself whether he can be petted. Richie likes and finds all other animals fun and interesting. Because of his tough attitude, other animals often find him a bit too exciting.

The choice of a dog also has a lot to do with location. When Wendy & Kees were thinking about whether a dog would fit into their lives, they were still living in an apartment in Amsterdam and they thought that a 'Richie the Ridgeback' would not fit so well in a small house and that the size of the dog should be a bit smaller. But they both really liked the name Richie. Officially, his name is Richie Fú. Because he is originally a Chinese dog, his middle name is Fú, which means Rich. So Richie Rich.
Richie loves the forest. It doesn't matter which forest, as long as it smells of animals and nature. The beach also scores high on the list. In the forest every step smells nice and on the beach you get a nice fresh wind in your nose.
A funny, sweet, playful and above all a great animal lover
Richie loves animals. He has a complete zoo of toys. Monkey, Moose, Fox and Giraffe are actually just as fun. He can take them all apart if you ask him to grab one of them. But also pig, camel, Balou the bear, Pine cone, Firewood and the owners' trouser leg are fun.
He also loves live animals. Pigeons, cats and ducks are his favourites. On the first day in Wendy & Kees' new home, he ran through the street and jumped over a fence at the neighbours after a cat. Normally ducks take flight when Richie approaches. While a duck was underwater with his head, Richie touched the duck's tail with his nose. That was the fright of the duck's life. But as mentioned before, Richie does not harm the other animals. He just wants to play.
Richie says the saying “Handle every situation like a dog. If you can't eat or play with it, pee on it and walk away”
Richie also peed on Wendy and Kees' best friends Christmas tree once. And it was an artificial tree too. Luckily it was Richie's very best dog friend at home, so they could all laugh about it.
