Meet Border Collie Neela
Hi!
I am Neela. I am a border collie and I live with three big sisters and one big brother with my sweet owner Danique. It is always a fun bunch. I am the youngest of the bunch. With so many brothers and sisters I have learned to always stand up for myself. Because of that I can be a bit cheeky sometimes. Especially when food is involved 😉. Furthermore I am very controlled and I listen fantastically during training. Together with my owner I do a lot of dog sports.
A Blue Merle Border Collie
Danique has grown up with dogs her whole life, she can't imagine a life without dogs. They are her support and confidante. Because besides Neela there are two border collie ladies living in the house. One brown and white named Zoë and one orange and white named Joy. Ace is also there, a black and white border collie male and with Santé an American Cocker Spaniel the pack is complete.
When the idea of a new addition to the family arose, a Blue Merle Border Collie was specifically sought. A deviation from the more traditional black and white Border Collie. Neela is therefore extra special with her beautiful coat in different shades of black and gray over her entire body. A Blue Merle Border Collie is sometimes confused with an Australian Shepherd. However, the character and build of the Border Collie is different. For example, Border Collies are often slightly smaller and have even more energy than Australian Shepherds. In addition, Border Collies are the most intelligent dogs on earth. Something that Danique also really likes, because she can read and write with her dogs, which makes the cooperation very good.
The color of the coat was also the inspiration for Neela's name. Nila is Indian for blue. With a modified spelling Neela was born, the perfect name for this beautiful Blue Merle.
Pool parties and dog sports
Danique does a lot with Neela and the rest of the pack. Of course they love to walk. The forest is great, but also along the river Berkel is a favorite place to stretch your legs. And as soon as there is water nearby, they like to have a swimming party together.
Danique is also active in dog sports. Hoopers, Dogdance, Dogfrisbee, Obedience, Neela loves everything. She is a real Border Collie in that respect. She really wants to work and listens fantastically.
Fortunately, there is also time left for one-on-one attention every now and then. Neela makes them really happy with a tug game. The best option is with a string with a fur on it. Nice and soft for her mouth, because she is and remains a noble lady.
