4 Benefits of Paw Balm for Dogs

Why should you use balm on your dog's paws?

Dog paws can act as both shock absorbers and brakes for our furry friends. They help protect the bones and joints in and around the foot, while also aiding in stability on slippery surfaces or steep inclines. Although paw pads are made up of a layer of fatty tissue, they can still be susceptible to injury, cracking, and discomfort. Just like our feet, paws are also susceptible to pain, cracking, and cuts. The only difference is that our furry friends can’t talk and can’t express how painful it is to have dry or swollen paws.

That is why a dog paw balm is useful for the general care of the dog paw. With regular use and the right application, it can soothe damaged and cracked paws. Paw balms have healing and moisturizing properties. We are happy to list all the benefits of dog paw balms for you.

What is paw balm?

The ingredients used in dog paw balms can soothe dry, chapped, or damaged paws. It also acts as a buffer against everyday hazards like hot pavement or cold snow. Many dog paw balms have anti-inflammatory effects, which can help soothe and relieve sore and painful paw pads.

Dog paw balms are more than just an accessory. They can be used to protect, moisturize, and heal your furry friend’s sore paw pads. So, let’s get specific about the benefits of dog paw balms and why you should use them for your pup.

Benefit #1 - Dog Paw Balms Provide Protection Against Extreme Temperatures

Using a paw balm as a preventative treatment is always a brilliant idea. It can make a huge difference in bad weather.

For example, dogs' paws can quickly become dry and cracked in extremely cold weather. When your dog jumps in the snow or on ice, this increases the risk of snow getting stuck between the toes.

On the other hand, dogs experience extreme heat when they step on the ground in the summer. So dog paw balms are useful in various situations. It forms a kind of shield between the skin of the paws and everything it comes into contact with.

Benefit #2 - Dog Paw Balm - Moisturizing for the sole

When applied to your dog's paws, a well-formulated, high-quality dog paw balm can have soothing effects. It can moisturize and increase the elasticity of the paw skin. Your dog's paws take a lot of wear and tear since he spends his entire life barefoot.

Imagine walking barefoot across your concrete patio on a hot summer day or running a few miles on the sidewalk. Your feet would initially be raw and sore, but your skin would toughen up and develop calluses. While the skin texture on your dog’s paws isn’t as sensitive as yours, it’s still a good comparison.

A high-quality dog paw balm is the solution if your dog has dry, cracked or rough paws.

Benefit #3 - Dog paw balms protect against wear and tear

Imagine walking around your house barefoot all day. Most of us would have numb feet. Although dogs’ paws can withstand daily walking and running on different surfaces, they still need protection.

Dog paw balms keep your dog's feet moisturized and prevent cracking.

Benefit #4 - Dog Paw Balms Soothe Irritation and Damage

Foot balms are ideal for treating blisters, cracks, hot spots, wounds, burns, and allergy-related pain. It’s all possible because most paw balms contain natural healing ingredients. So when you notice dry or cracked paws on your dog, look for the best dog paw balms to take care of them.
