Most people use a collar to walk their dog comfortably. It is important that the collar is the right size so that it is not too tight but also not too loose. If it is too loose, your dog can wriggle out of the collar. Therefore, make sure that there is still room for 2 fingers between the collar and the neck for the right size, but no more.

Characteristics and facts of a Pomsky?

A Pomsky is a relatively new dog. The International Pomsky Association determines the guidelines for breeding the dog. Because the standard is still in development, the Pomsky is not yet an officially recognized breed. A Pomsky is a cross (based on artificial insemination) between a female Siberian Husky and a male Pomeranian. This results in a small spitz-like dog with a thick double coat, upright ears and the typical Siberian Husky appearance.

Difference between a Pomsky F1 & F2: There are several types of crossbreeds of Pomskies which can be recognized by various abbreviations.

  • F1 – a dog with purebred parents. (50% Siberian Husky and 50% Pomeranian)*
  • F1B – a purebred dog crossed with an F1 Pomsky (so 25% Pomeranian and 75% Husky or vice versa)
  • F2 - A dog with two F1 Pomsky parents. Although this dog is 50% Pomeranian and 50% Siberian Husky on paper, this generation is generally much more varied than F1s or F1Bs

Size of a Pomsky: An average height of a Pomsky is around 30 centimeters. This can vary greatly between F1, F1B or F2 crosses.

Character of a Pomsky: Both Pomeranians and Huskies are spitz breeds, with strong personalities and an excellent sense of humor and lots of hair. Siberians are very active, while Pomeranians are focused on their own familiar people. In general, Pomskies have characteristics of both breeds. Lively, intelligent and loyal.

Extra: Pomskies come with a silky thick coat similar to that of a Husky. To maintain this coat properly, daily brushing is necessary.
