This luxury collar is made of certified Italian vegan tanned leather which only gets more beautiful with time and finished with high quality haberdashery. The extra wide Bold collars made of brown leather are 3 or 4 cm wide and can be finished with brass or stainless steel closures. The buckle and d-ring are extensively tested for their strength and treated to prevent rust and corrosion. In addition, the collar is available in different sizes, making it a perfect fit for every dog.

Why vegetable tanned leather?

We use vegetable tanned leather for Cooper & Quint collars and belts.

The main reasons:

• Longer life span

Vegetable tanned leather uses tannings from various plants, such as branches, leaves, bark or fruits. The tanning process takes about one to three months. Due to the softer process, the lifespan of vegetable tanned leather is on average higher than chrome tanned leather.

• Better for the environment and biodegradable

Chrome-based tanning is also called chemical cow leather (80-90% of cow leather is chromium tanned). The hides are preserved using synthetic preservatives such as chromium sulphate, aluminum and sodium hydroxide. These substances are toxic and carcinogenic and therefore the leather is no longer biodegradable and almost dead. Vegetable tanned leather, recognizable by its trademark, does not contain toxic substances such as azo dyes, nickel, PCP or chromium VI. The leather can be easily discarded at the end of its life.

• Tenser colors

Another big difference between vegetable tanned leather and chrome tanned leather is the life which you can still find in the end product. Vegetable tanned leather absorbs the traces of our life. The natural aging does not affect the resistance. The colors of tannins give the leather an unmistakable warm and brilliant shade that intensifies with the passage of time and daily use.
